Often times when I am approached with questions regarding a personal injury matter, be it a motor vehicle accident or a slip and fall I first have to ask the potential client, "well, tell me what has happened so far?" Almost always, the potential client will tell me a story regarding a car accident or a fall in which they believe another party may be at fault. And then, I will get this statement from the potential client, "the other person's insurance company already contacted me." Now, take a step back from the situation and consider the following, whose interests does this person represent? are they calling you for your benefit? OR..consider the bigger picture...what is the goal of this person contacting you? how do insurance companies remain profitable? The insurance company will often request a recorded statement to "hear your side of the story" or "to complete their file" or "to further their investigation", but the goal of these recorded statements is to minimize your claim. These are not recorded statements.....they are interviews. The goal of these interviews is to minimize the value of your claim or in some cases negate your claim completely. If you have been involved in an accident and the insurance company wants a recorded statement you should contact an attorney to discuss the matter. If you have recently been injured in an accident we can be reached at 937.339.3939 and appointments are usually available within 24 hours of your call.
